Bruxism Grinding Appliances are worn over your upper or lower teeth to realign your jaw and help ease the pain associated with any misalignment. The idea is that by realigning the jaw and preventing the jaw from clicking, it will help alleviate symptoms. The appliance also helps to protect teeth from physical wear and tear involved in the constant teeth grinding of bruxism, so that instead of wearing down the enamel of your teeth, you bite against the appliance. Bruxism grinding appliances are custom made to fit your unique mouth and will be specially constructed to take into account the severity of your condition; the more you grind, the harder and more sturdy the appliance may be.
